Report of a Meeting Held in Lead, South Dakota
October 4-7, 2001
Two conferences on Underground Science were held on October 4-7, 2001
and on November 29 - December 2, 2001 in Lead, South Dakota The
October Conference covered physics and geology and the December
conference the microbiology that can be explored in an Underground
Laboratory.
The purpose of these conferences were to bring together physicists, earth
scientists, geomicrobiologists, and others interested in underground
science and to produce a white paper to ensure that National
Underground Science Laboratory (NUSL) will satisfy the needs of these
diverse groups.
These conferences were sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
